Meeting with Gangaji
Tonight in Ashland I attended my first "satsang" (public meeting) with Gangaji ... more profound wisdom about who we really are... beyond space, time, personalities ... all offered in a grateful spirit of support without the slightest hint of attachment to outcome. Happy Even when the power to the public address and video system went out a couple of times, it was obvious that her identity was anchored in the reality we all share which doesn't require "external" power; great reminders! Wake up time as we find peace in the center of the hurricane! Happy

New Community page and SSI
I'm doing a "cattle drive" this week : moving about 12 years worth of web content from our intent domain (which is going to a new steward on May 1 who plans to do some inspiring things with it!)... so here's a new community page on my newest website (still VERY much a work in progress this week), but you can see some of the little dogies in the new pasture before the rest arrive Happy

BTW, kudos for whoever invented
Server Side Includes (SSI)... this little method of building pages on the fly from the server (and not duplicating a gazillion identical block of HTML!) is already saving me a ton of time! This is why most of the pages on my new site have a .shtml suffix instead of a .html one.

Announcing My Myspace and the Hedronists (Ashland Geometer's Myspace)
I have my new Myspace set up here. Several colleagues – we've called our selves the "Ashland Geometers" and more some like the sillier name of the "Hedronists" – have a new collaborative Myspace... stay tuned for more fun under way!

Sierra Mousetrap & Mac lore
Years ago, I was the editor of a "treeware" newsletter (I probably have an old digital photo of the original members around somewhere on a floppy disk; remember those?) for the Nevada County Macintosh User's Group, Sierra Mousetrap which now has a blog expertly maintained by the dedicated efforts of long-time friend and colleague, Rich Webster who, like my brother, has inspired me to take up this blogging habit with more vigor and regularity. Friday night Rich & I had a great skype conversation, about life, the universe (Mac-centric, of course), web design, and the usual host of other mutual interests. I'll be eager to read his posts about MacWorld Expo (since he's going and I'm not), so go for it, Rich! Happy

Family blog entry du jour
We're all here at my Mom (Barbara Rawles) home in Livermore, California... My sister's family from Redlands, my brother's family from the hinterlands, and Aunt Helen, Uncle Mike and more on the way, munching on French toast, enjoying the little fiber optic Christmas tree in the family room, listening to one of the nephews practicing on the piano in the next (living) room behind the double doors so we can enjoy the usual 3 or 4 simultaneous conversations in here, with most of the Mac laptops in the playing other games (hibernating in the laundry room, where one can usually find at least a nephew or two... Gayle is now donning a smart black French maid's apron, which she wore years ago doing that line of work (it matches her black outfit perfectly) and sauteeing onions, asking Mike & Helen about their packing preparations for their upcoming move. Earlier John mentioned the anecdote of "three moves is worth a fire", and now they are discussing how Jim & family can assist with their move while they are in the area. Now the family heirloom furniture and pianos "from around the horn" ... This lead to a story from Helen and Mike about the Williamsburg tradition of a young man building a spinning wheel to demonstrate his woodworking skills, and then the young woman he is courting making a shirt from the wheel; if he accepted the shirt, they wedding would be a "go"... John & a few more nephews emerged from the other room, and John is now telling Helen & Mike "what's the rush" in regard to their moving plans, followed by a round of laughs... Now brother Jim suggests that I post this blog entry and send Rawle (Mike & Helen's only child) an email greeting (with a link to this entry...) ... so I will Happy
