One of
the most influential set of books in my adolescence
was (and continues to be, if I look at the big
picture) is the 5 volume series by Baird T.
Spalding, Life and Teaching of the Masters of
the Far East. This wonderful
story (does it matter if it is fiction or
biography?) is a marvelous exposition of ideas
that liberate our true nature, expressed in very
accessible language for the Western mind, still
vibrant in the essential inspirations of a century
ago.
